US President Donald Trump, who has railed against America’s immigration policy, has done something that should please Indians looking across the seas to the “land of opportunity". Under America’s new system, the well-educated who are capable of taking up relatively sophisticated jobs—say, Indian technology professionals—will have it easier. And upper-crust Indians, by and large, like what they hear of it. Even if Trump manages to convince fellow Republicans, Democrats such as Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are expected to oppose the shift. Well, given India’s degree-waving jobless multitudes, there are enough Indians who could meet all of the above criteria.
